" A man's character always takes its hue, more or less, from the form and color of the things about him."
I was artistically inclined from a young age. But like many, I never viewed myself as an artist and struggled to connect with my authentic self. Even from those early years, my life began to paint some painful hues. Refusing to adopt stereotypes and statistical labels, I moved forward with my life as the daughter of a drug-addicted father, unwed teenage mother, a survivor of domestic abuse, divorced parents, and a myriad of other hues that forced my God-given gifts and passions to the background.
Later as a wife, mother, and employee, I had found a way to create the life I desired for myself. But I also found myself lost under the demands of life and still needing to heal from old wounds. I desperately sought an outlet that could be both a therapeutic expression of the past I had fought to escape and a celebration of the woman I had fought to become.
Nearly eighteen years ago, I began the journey to reclaim the self I was born to be and reconnect with long-buried gifts. Art, my faith, and therapy became my lifelines. Not only did they lead to healing and unleash my innermost expressions, but it was also a source of confidence that revealed my deeper purpose and a greater sense of direction. Especially after a painful divorce and a layoff from an eighteen-year career. In powerful ways, I was informed and transformed by my artistic creations and knew the same could be true for others.
The prayer for self-reconciliation is being realized, and what is now known as Heart Hues will help others on the journey to do the same. My experience includes professional training and certification as a persona and executive coach, mental health coach, the study of psychology with a minor in studio art, and over ten years of leadership in ministry. I now take great delight in helping others live emotionally well and cultivate authenticity along the way.
My goal is for every Heart Hues coaching client, artistic patron, workshop or conference attendee, member, or subscriber is to be well, inside and out. I desire to glorify God, as others are made better because of their journey with Heart Hues.
